Yes you can omit the yogurt but make sure you add enough liquid and maybe 3 tablespoons of olive oil to help keep it moist. One of the main ingredients in hummus is tahini so you really do need it to make the recipe. HAPPY COOKING!

This is indeed the best recipe! thank you so much Dede. I've been making humus for the past 4 years but my hummus was always too thick. I followed your recipe and added the sour cream and I got a wonderful smooth creamy hummus just like at the restaurants. I just want to add that I used dry chickpeas that I bought by the pound (not caned) I boiled them (after socking for 12 hours in water and baking powder). Thank you Dede I am going to be so proud serving my humus to my guest tonight.

Most people like to remove the skin of the chickpeas but if you are using a good processor and canned chickpeas then you really don't have to. If you have the time the give it a try :)

Yes, some people do add olive oil to hummus and you can add a couple tablespoons if you'd like. The olive oils purpose is to keep the hummus moist but I use the yogurt instead. I use the olive oil on top of the hummus to keep it moist. HAPPY COOKING!

Good, But I have to say that using Dreid Chickpease (instead of canned) results in much more better tasting Hummus.
